Everything finally came together, well almost, and I'm on the
road. Couldn't have picked a colder time to get started if
I'd tried, which I didn't, it's just my luck...
I've been here for the past four days, pretty much just shaking
out the new Arctic Fox... So far so good, just a couple of
minor things that have either been taken care of via e-mail with the
Northwood's service tech, or will be taken care of at the Camping
World located just west of El Paso sometime next week.
Pulling to here was a piece of cake, and I think I'm in love
with the Air Safe Hitch. Really nice, and it sure smoothes
thing out. Very
gentle ride.
The Vortec in the GMC, along with tow/haul, and the 6speed
Allison Tranny made it so the truck didn't even know the trailer
was back there. Gas mileage leaves something to be
desired, but I knew that going in. All in all I'm very
pleased with the truck too.
Got the DirecTV pointed with no problem, once I quit aiming
it at the next trailer over and actually pointed it at a clear
sky (blush)...
The campground is fantastic. Super quite, very nice
folks, and all in all a very pleasant experience. The Fort
itself is historic beyond belief. Generals Wainwright and
Patton, among others, were stationed here and the place has kept
it's historic look.
It's owned by a Homeowners Association now, and they've split
it into a bunch of sections for stick and brick homes, mobile
homes, a
tent camping park, the RV park, both an 18 hole and a
par 3 golf course, etc., etc., etc. There's also miles and
miles of biking and hiking trails, a zillion deer, turkey,
squirrels and whatever.
NOTE: These updates will be sort of hit and miss until I get some
solid communications installed in this thing, which I'll
probably do in a couple of weeks when I'm in Quartzite AZ.
Until then I'll do the best I can...
